Greetings folks,

Well, I imagine that most of you are rather familiar with the cast of characters throughout the Womb, and the same goes for this little corner of the site. As I was in other recent places, I am but a simple guide to the workings of C&C, and yes...I'll be hosting CAPE V in mid-January, but with the new and improved functionality that the Womb alone can provide.

Most of the information pertaining to the bells and whistles of the place can be found elsewhere around the Womb, and so I'll keep this brief, and confined to this forum alone:

This is the forum where collaborations are intended to occur. Sure, there is CAPE, which takes up a few months of every year, but I'm much more interested in promoting other non-CAPE collaborations here than there had been elsewhere. I have the assurances of many of the mods here that they will make themselves musically available to help with collaborations of various sorts. You need only post positively, and ideally, you will receive some positive responses. I could easily wax poetic about how important musical collaborations are, and how key networking is etc., but I promised I'd keep it brief.

The "critiques" portion of this forum is currently a work in progress. To start off with, I will be allowing both songwriting and mix critiques to be placed here...with the caveat being that you are VERY clear in your opening post as to what it is you are wanting critiqued. Despite the fact that only Dwoz and I are listed as the mods here, you can rest assured that Aardvark will poke his snout in here on a regular basis to waggle his tongue about your submissions, and the other usual suspects that have traditionally built their previous post counts with critiques will all be here to do the same as well.

As time goes on, and the vibe of the place becomes fully established, I will no doubt streamline how things are going to go here. I doubt I need to say anything about my moderating style...just keep things relatively polite, and you need not worry about deleted posts etc.

So that's it for a semi-rambling, semi-tangental initial post in a swank new forum. You can always contact me by one of the many available means to make suggestions, comments or queries.

Have fun!

E. Shaun

e.shaun,

is there going to be ftp server space available here for CaPe V? If so, could or would that space be available for non-CaPE collaborations during the other 8 months of the year? I'm not trying to be cheap here, just scoping out the new landscape.

CaPE V in January! That's going to come around real fast. Any info yet on things like ftp space and team forums here at the Womb? Dare I say it? How about mastering or not this time around?

Ooops, seems I'm,once again, guilty of not reading the map. Can't un-ring a bell,so what now? Clear? From me? Ok,I'll try. I find myself in an interesting position.I did some recording some years ago, produced a solo album. Some demos for other artists. Was totally satisfied with my work artisticly but it cost a lot of money.I didnt make much back and kinda wandered away from music.Did some gigs, sold some cd's. Fun hobby. Then my love started to sing.Holy crap! She started to jump up with my band.Holy Crap! Then she started writing.Holy,ya ya. Then playin guitar n drums and recording herself on my gear. Then this guy I know says"here, build a little studio, and make a record."So here I sit.got songs, got voice.got some gear and some players that will do their best and put in the time to learn.I have a fairly clear vision of where I want these songs to go.I just dont have any idea how to actually capture it.How can I make these shitty sounding drums to sound better?(tuning?) How do I convince one guy to play less and an other to play more?It was diferent on my own stuff.I had world class people doing stuff I wanted done. They did it cause I paid them and thats what they did.I promise not to do anymore lame guitar stuff.I dunno. Was that clear?probibly not. Aaahhh Crap.I wanted this to go to the other thread.Crap.give mea break.I got my first computer 2 months ago.
