Ok so in the process of recording this album ( we are in process of doing ??? ) myself being the eng./co-writer/monkey/gtr player I have left about 10 gtr tracks to the end ??? WTF did I do that ?

Anyhow I find myself DE-Motivated to get these done ( some tracks just sound like ASS some are leads that are done on the fly and have problems with them and need to be re-done ) I NEED to get these tracks fixed/done

ANy suggestions on motivation techniques for the blind ??? and stupid.

pick your guitar, and play your songs.

It'll come back.

You will aim for the essential. Doing that will lead you to see better what is useless in your tracks and redo what is not "quiet there".

You have the chance to be able to play them with your guitar.

This is a chance.

And a great motivation.

Yes! That is a great card set. I got mine ...um... about the time i first started working on DAW, and that year i would draw a card everytime i had a blue screen.

They were the only thing that kept me sane.

...relatively sane. Compared to a Cuckoo Clock, or the famous Hatter.

I strongly recommend you to get yours now. Also you can mail me plane tickets and i can play your guitars at your expense. I have some free days in February.

Peace it is,

Slabrock

We could say "just get on with it!", but that's too easy for a back seat driver.

If you're a little burned out on this, as it sounds like you might be, walk away from it for a few days (if you have time).

Sit down and listen to what's there.

If a track is crap, wipe it. Don't be a packrat. I know in the modern DAW world, it's really really easy to pile up tons of stuff that probably should not be kept for more than the time it takes for a single playback, just because you can and not run out of tracks the way you would with tape.

When that's done, take a break, come back, and listen again.

If you hear something in your head that's not in the tracks, plug in, tune up, and record it.

If you don't hear anything in your head that isn't already there in the tracks, maybe it's done. Don't throw stuff down because you're in a mode of thinking "well, we need this kind of part, here". Put it in because there's a burning need for a part that really wants to be in this piece of music.

Put in different words.... sometimes if there's nothing to say, it's better to say nothing.

But in the end, all any of us can do is just nudge you a little bit with suggestions. Only you can judge whether you might be trying to force stuff that maybe doesn't even need to be there, or if you're just a little toasted from working on this stuff and need a breather from it.

And at the risk of stating the obvious, all of this is probably a fine example of how being your own producer can be a tricky business. There's no shame in bringing in a babysitter for yourself if that's what you need.

what is not "quiet there"

Spelling? Freudian Slip? Intentional? Double Entendre?

Perfect nonetheless.

Not that there's anything wrong with considering "shoveling pig shit or else", but here goes my wisdumb nonetheless.

What sometimes works for me in these situations is changing or enhancing the work atmosphere - be it candles, different incense, new lamps, putting order into a corner you've hated to look at for the past 2 months, whatever. It makes the old place feel fresh again, and it feels like it kindly invites you to keep going.

You can also always take several different suggestions and use them at the same time.
