Don't ask how I got it, just download, listen and fucking smile guiltily and try not to cream your pants....
Eddie Van Halen's cab direct mic'd ( I removed the room mic) for the ginormously, historically popular Hot For Fucking Teacher
Edit: It is on also youtube for your streaming pleasure -not by me either

Blackie I am not selling anything, so it shouldn't be a copyright issue... Since you seem to take offense, download removed ;)

This should be required listening for anyone who's having problems tracking a heavy guitar sound.
Notice the glaring lack of low frequencies, and saturation. Just goes to show you how much Micheal Anthony contributed to the sound.

Are there not some rules in this joint for posting copyrighted works?
I understand your enthusiasm Cary, but if you didn't play or cut this shit, then cut the shit.
I won't ask how you got it. The Google provides too obvious an answer. The day when Eddie V signs up to this forum and starts spilling his guts about amp and mic selection, I will happily sign on as a thoroughly enthralled fanboy from 1978.
Until then, don't we have some rules about posting copyrighted works?

btw Blackie whatever your name is, what shit do I have to cut? I love Ed's early guitar tone... it is the best fucking rock guitar tone, imo ...

Sounds suspiciously like a Marshall.

Well Dave if you can hear it is a plexi Marshall -that is a start. ;)
I can hear all the things in this clip on why this particular Marshall has helped define Ed's sound during his career.

It's a good sound and an undeniably good player. Also impressive for one continuous take with rhythm and solo.

not the best plexi recorded, cool tone sure, but that plexi is not an end all
Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Uli Roth and George Lynch got some pretty incredible sounds with plexis
but you do not need a plexi to get historic tones recorded.
tone for tones sake its cool, but the real tone is in the fingers
obsessing about EVH is so old....lousy song writer, repetitive licks, not a lot of real music in his licks either, a lot of muscle memory and thats it, genuine cheeseball away from the axe....after your teens its good to stop with the idolization
M Brane was spot on re. the eq

LAME-bro, lame post.... ;)
Ed's fingers MAKE that tone/saturation what it was.... ALL fingers and picking style. You should know that, right? Ed's number one would easily cope Hendrix, Clapton, Beck, Page tones easily .... it is the same 12 series..
Your last paragraph is fuckin silly... I am laughing and puking at the same time.... :finger: :D :fingerlefty:

I don't know if it's the best since Hendrix wielded a very mean Plexi, as did Angus Young, but EVH could do pretty well with his at times, it seems.

Cary, maybe I was a bit harsh....
you have the energy of a 14 year old just learning chops with teen idol sauce conspicuously all over your face
that's fucking cute, but really old, get a life
have fun masturbating to your NOS EVH posters...framed no doubt...

Lamebro, where do you get off man? I practice my craft out of love, if I play more than others would, it is for my love and passion to play. IF note articulation, sense of timing, dynamics, tones are the side effects of that, so much the merrier.... I have a life faggot. Listening to your myspace songs, you shouldn't be sitting on your high horse, like your some kind of authority on rock guitar.... just sayin' ;)
