Not a particular good singer, not a particular good dancer, not all that beautiful, so how did she do it?
I just said this same thing to someone not two days ago!

I'd throw Ian McKaye in the smarty-pants list here. It takes some real intelligence to co-manage a profitable independent label and a profitable band without selling out your ideals. Plus, he does seem pretty smart when interviewed.

I did read his autobiography and he seems quiet intelligent according to the fucked up life he had!

By the way, it's a must read (in my humble opinion).

How did I forget! Although he's fairly new in the music-biz, but he always has been a good musician and very intelligent mind!

Thumbs Up! Re: Most intelligent (wo)men in music

Well, he's been making music professionally for 50 years, has got more tail than probably anyone alive, and has taken more drugs than anyone dead or alive, so I'd have to say the person in music who is the most invincible and has the survival skills of a cockroach is:

    KEEF

    ...wait, what was the question?

Oh. Well there are no intelligent people in the music business.

She's a manipulating lip-synch hooker who has traded on lowest common denominator issues from the time she fucked her first record producer.
OK, can I propose the first producer who refused said activity with her, even after being asked to? (I know, I know...)

so how did she do it?
A burning ambition coupled to a "make no prisoners" instinct coupled to knowing exactly what money costs coupled to marketing.

    Maynard James Keenan anyone?
Definitely Maynard James Keenan. And Danny Carey, for that matter.

No one's mentioned Robert Fripp yet, have they?

Not to diss on Danny Carey, he's one of my favorite drummers, but:
"the official Tool website claims that Danny uses drumming as a ritual similar to occult rituals,[2] with purposes varying from spiritual exploration to 'a gateway [which] summoned a daemon he has contained…that has been delivering short parables similar to passages within The Book of Lies'" wiki;Tool's site

So is it intelligence if he steals all his ideas from a demon? Sounds like cheating to me.

Well, I do have a problem, in that most of the interviews I see or hear are by Terri Gross interviews, and she tends to bring out the best in people, but Joni Mitchell, absolutely, and Tom Waits (odd, yes, but smart as hell) too. Also, Elvis Costello, though I interview wise I mostly know him as the interviewer! (I miss Spectacle!) Also my +1 to Peter Gabriel, and I should also add Dan Wilson, who is shape as a knife.

Actually, I don't think religious / cultish leanings necessarily have anything to do with intelligence. Belief is a completely separate thing, in my opinion.

So what you really just asked was, "Who has the biggest tits in radio?"

Surely there's an answer, but it's pretty irrelevant, ain't it?
Hey you're right... we'll do that "best haircuts" thread next week, I promise.

Yea, Jeff's been doing military consulting since the 80's. He says musical problem-solving abilities that we employ in the studio lend themselves to the outside-the-box thinking the military needs:
"My big thing is to look at existing technologies and try to see other ways they can be used, which happens in music all the time and happens to be what terrorists are incredibly good at."

I was just saying it sounds like cheating, aren't demons significantly older and more knowledgeable than any human alive? It's an unfair advantage.

But no, idiot savantism can really only take someone so far, and he's one of the best drummers in the world.

You're welcome! Good fast & honest read! .. and you'll get a song with it which was specially written for the book!
If you're really into the guy, you should also watch this docu about him looking up his fathers professional life. Apparently he was one of the big and often misunderstood quantum physicist.
