That's great. I have a request. Can we have some kind of melodic theme? I'm trying to sing this track to my girlfriend, and she says I'm spitting on her.
You are the wrong person for that task. Clearly, spitting on your girlfriend is your wife's job.

    Tell her to man up!

Your use of irony is as brilliant as ever.

I've just cleaned up some posts that serve as nothing more than piling on at this point. I realize this was brought on by the OP, but I think this thread has run its course unless there is something positive to add.

    Thanks,

Man, this one has been a strange epic.

To add to what has already been said by the guys who actually run the place about one aspect of this-

Threads like this aren't deleted, I think, because, aside from any of the other things that are actually useful and educational that come up about the art and craft of making musical recordings, now and then something arises that ends up showing a long extended example of how a whole bunch of the art and craft of making recorded music is just about all the assorted whacky phenomena of human behavior.

I mean, cranking up the Wayback Machine, there is much to be learned from the saga of The Mixerman Diaries, and it's not about "what microphone was used to record Cotton's timbale overdubs?".

Mr. spacecadet came in and, paraphrasing, basically said "here's how I'm doing some stuff. How common is this sort of methodology, and what do people think of it?".

Oddly enough, people then commented about how common that sort of working process is, and what they think of it.

    Imagine that.

I'm amazed at how melodramatic the reaction was when people simply pointed out that in basic semantic terms, the use of the term "arrangement" was being stretched way beyond its elasticity and flexibility. If you want to talk about arrangement, it's pretty reasonable to say that the arrangement was done all before the actual mix process started.

More generally, the main overall theme is just simply this:

Just understand this: you have not discovered some be-all-end-all new way of mixing records.
    That's the whole thing.

    Pretty much.... yeah, that's it.

Well, you were given some feedback. You just didn't like it.
And that pretty much covers what then became Phase Two of this silliness.

    Not much else to it.

This is exactly what happened here.

We don't delete threads like this for a very good reason. It tends to dissuade the "dainty little flowers" who can't handle any kind of criticism from repeating the error. In other words, a thread like this acts as a reminder and a deterrent to people incapable of handling life in general.

Well this thread has brought me some real twisted joy on a rainy Saturday. I'm not sure I learned a single thing from it, other than realizing how ignorance and arrogance can be a golden comedy partnership!

I'm new to this place but it seems the Darwinian nature of it is what keeps it from descending into yet another forum for bored wannabe's/neverbeens. Long may it continue!
