    Default montrose killed himself.

i thought it was the prostate cancer.
    but no.
he did it with a .38 to the head.

    bummer.

why fight the cancer, and win(?), only to kill yourself?
    alcohol, and depression.
    it's almost a cliche.
    RIP RM

Ronnie was great. Probably my first major influence. That first Montrose album is awesome. Sad to hear how it ended.

This doesn't necessarily answer your question, but it certainly restates it pretty succinctly:

    Thanks for the video Shottie.

I really, REALLY liked Ronnie Montrose.

Saw him live thrice at the peak of his career in the mid to late 70's.

That solid chrome plated guitar with the concussion bar.

A seriously overlooked talent all told methinks.

Alcohol and pills didn't pull the trigger, but they can certainly erode the mind and spirit to make it seem like a worthy option.

Damn shame is what it is.

Depression is an often fatal illness.

that's all there is to it; ever.

    Many people attempt to self-medicate.
the fact that it doesn't always work terribly well is something that one could also say about the prescription alternatives or adjuncts.

But alcohol and drugs almost always worsten the condition. Alcohol abuse will also create other medical problems of it's own. Part of the problem is that men are generally not raised to talk openly about their emotions, thus they'll try to quiet them or turn them off completely when they become unbearable. :(

That's too bad. Another "thing I wish I didn't know...". Clearly, he will be missed. Really liked his first two or three albums, and the Gamma stuff was interesting as well...
