Default My bloody MacBookPro kinda died

I was working with my laptop and it crashed in a strange way: graphic errors and shut down alone.
Now it tries to boot like this and fails.
Need to go to the apple service.

    Oh my

With great monitors its easy to hear and fix problems but hard to enhance things that already sound good.

With hyped monitors, everything sounds good so you don't hear the problems.

With bad monitors, it seems easy to make absolutely anything sound better because you are really fixing the sound of the monitors rather than the sound of the recording.

Yikes. Good luck. Hopefully your hard drive is backed up. Usually when something goes wrong, that's what it was.

My hd is backed up indeed, but I'm pretty sure it's not because of it: I've tried to boot from another drive already.
Looks like a graphic card issue.

Yes, for sure a hard drive failure is cheaper!

I don't want to come off as an as with no schwartz in it - but have you tried the PRAM-Zap? Cmd+Alt++P+R and restart 3 times?

Maybe highly unlikely yet still worth a shot.

There is also a diagnostic mode you can reach on restart. Google Yahoo on duckduckgo for it.

Diagnostics mode is holding down "D" while you restart.

Ah! I'll try this, I've tried only the safe mode, which is holding the shift key.

    Thanks!!

Some of the older MacBook Pros (mine's from like 2009, when's yours from?) had graphics card issues. Mine failed on me sort of like yours did, in the middle of a session.

The good news is, Apple replaced the graphics card gratis.

    Thanks for the wisdom!
Mine is a late 2011, a refurbished one (Apple official).
I doubt they'll replace the graphic card for free, since the warranty has expired.

Graphics card failure is super common on the 09-13 MBP, I'm pretty sure it's common enough that Apple will fix it even if the warranty is expired. Check out this link.

    Hey thanks!
My MBP has been built in 2011, so it should be covered.

We'll see if they're honest enough.

Good news! I think mine may have been out of warranty as well when they took mine in. They told me it would take about a week, but then gave it back to me three days early. Here's hoping you experience similar service!

Yes they told me about a week today.

I had an 2011 MBP, it was repaired three times within a few weeks. It was long ago out of warranty, but Apple fixed it free (long story) of charge. The problem with the Motherboard/graphics card on those models was the lead free solder didn't hold up under heavy heat.
Sorry for the long story, the point is that unless they have newer parts since last year, the repair will be unreliable.
