    Default "First Tracks"

    "First Tracks"

    a guitar extravaganza.
    LOL

it's a double meaning, the title....
    it's a powder snow day,
    and it's this guitar:

Sun is shining through the trees,
    Diamond dust is everywhere
Cold air tastes just like a breeze
    In the desert solitaire

Now Iím standing at the edge,
    Pulling down like gravity
    Champagne powder and the butterflies,
    Falling so happily

First Tracks, Cold Thrill, Wind and Tree
Big Grin, Addictís mind, Follow me.

    Suddenly I can see
    Wide open fields below,
    Speed is my friend
    Where I want to go

Straight down the sun will shine,
    It will carry me
    Down the spine,
    Stone Free.

    Pillow drift and butterflies,
    Champagne on ice
Cold smoke can dry your eyes,
    Knee deep is so nice.

I like SG's. Weirdly light but great tone and sustain. I really don't enjoy playing Les Pauls. But I think they're beautiful. Guess I'm more of a Fender guy even if I miss my Jackson dive bomber at times. Had a Tele for 20 years and got a Strat. Kept the Strat and sold the Tele.

As a drummer I was backwards. Started with a digital kit 1985 and had a few digital kits up until 2008 where I traded them for a Pearl Export. Took away the Acrylic coating and they sang beautifully. Loved the transition from digital to analog. Now I'm back on digital with a Roland Handsonic which makes Superior Drummer a nice companion. That and a KORG Wavedrum which I really enjoy playing.

Would kill for the chance of having the sound of a real Mesa but my travel rig does not allow that. I choose Mesa on Eleven and call it a day. This song is the song Eva really likes and fell for. Cheers - P

    by the way,
there are no gibsons used in this recording..
    or shown.....

    hence the strat story.

    i've never owned a gibson,
have never found but ONE that i would actually want,
it was a '77 black beauty,
but when i was ready to try it,
i played an Ibanez Artist 2619 that just slayed it,
    end of story.

Not to flip this to a guitar thread... but since you're talking about them already.
I've always had a place in my heart for the Firebird. Never had the cash in my pocket for one though.
After my little brother died, my wife bough me one to cheer me up. I love it. It doesn't have any relevant application outside of making me happy when I noodle around on it. But it does that very well.
I also picked up a Thunderbird to play live with. Something about that tobacco/sun burst finish on that body that really appeals to me.

I get that too. It's like Gibson and Danelectro's buttf•ck baby. If you look in the middle it's balanced. If you look at the body it's exquisite. Then you look at the head and...

If you're referring to the Strat on top of the thread it is very beautiful.

The head is the same as the original reverse Firebird, right down to the banjo style tuners. It's also the same as the head on the original version of the Trini Lopez- the one with the full depth archtop hollow body - with dual Florentine style cutaways. So it's got a good Gibson pedigree, just a bit of an oddball one.

The song is great, a really good blend of virtuoso shredding and interweaving guitar melody. Was that all Mesa?

Secondly I like Grohl's take on the hybrid guitar thing...

shut up and play yer guitar...

hey, thanks for listening and commenting, andy d.....

    yes, this is all mesa.

half of it is captured with a sm57, the solo section is captured direct using a Palmer PDI-09.

that grohl guitar is not a hybrid per se,
    it's a version of a trini lopez.
