    To me, the only real surprises in there are Pandora, which remains relatively unknown in Scandinavia, and that broadcast radio trumps Youtube to that extent.

    I teach people around the age of 20, so maybe that informs my expectations somewhat.

    Also, the US seems to have far more diversity in radio broadcast, what with independent radio and college radio stations.

    You'll notice how prominent word of mouth is. These are the people who buy recordings. Much of the rest is glorified background music.

    Most "on demand" services don't pay artists squat. Certainly nowhere close to the amount needed to compensate for the lost sales they cause or provide an actual income.

    On demand streaming is toxic to the music industry.
