    Default gimme a song

well, this has the potential to backfire on me

heres the deal. basically, I'm waiting on a project to start later on this month (or so I'm told). Ive been just puttering around with my own demos for so long i think I'm gonna shoot myself if i hear them again. that, and I've recently upgraded my setup, so I'm looking to rack up some milage on these things.

if you have a song you want mixed, feel free to pm me (or just reply in the thread, it really doesn't matter). I'm not charging anything, just want to mix something else for a bit and get a bit better accustomed to the new toys. if you like it, use it. if you don't, trash it. no harm, no foul.

i prefer rock centric stuff, but again, it doesn't matter. just my own personal taste. also, I'm at work during the week, so weekends are probably when id be getting around to it, so if you have a tight deadline or anything, this is probably not a good idea. also, not sure the best way to transfer files, but I'm guessing thats something that can be figured out as it goes.

    fire away (please)

I've released it under Creative Commons, so feel free. Multitrack too.

I have a song, if you want to mix it. You'd need to weed thru some drum takes though. No vocals yet.
    It's my own thing.
    Is pt ok?

Here's a link to a no drum srch version. Please ignore the srch vocals, which will probably be entirely different.
Lemme know if it sounds like your thing.

thanks giraffe! unfortunately I'm using logic now, used to use pt but switched recently. any way to consolidate the tracks and export? sounds like a cool song, wouldn't mind having a crack at it.

Cool if you're into it I'll try to get around to it this week. Hopefully I can find the time, before you run out of yours.

Well criznap. The song I sent you is the wrong one. That ones done. Though I could still send you the tracks if you'd like. I meant to put up another scratch but got them mixed up.

soo, turns out that my union decided the best thing for us would be to go on strike...for up to 6 weeks. looks like ill have more time on my hands than i thought. forced vacation for me, with painting the main floor thrown in there somewhere...

knastratt, pretty much done with the track you sent me. got things sitting decently as a static mix, gonna have another go at it at some point today to wrap it up. just automation left, but I'm mousing my way through it, which kinda sucks but can't afford a controller at the moment.

there was also another song from a website meloco posted here that i mixed. I'm not sure if i need to ask permission to post it here, since its someone else material. i can't see getting in trouble, since the multitrack was available to download, but i might just ask anyway. don't want an angry british phone call.

    ...cocktail!!

In my case - it's Creative commons so you may post it wherever you like. I am, however, mighty tired of it since my songs run like 500 times before everything sits and sounds what I think it should during the composing, tracking, mixing and trying-to-find-a-space-that-gives me-a-correct-picture-of-what-the-fuck-is-going-on time.

so, here's a song, if you wish. it probably maybe needs a vocal or something. maybe.

there's 6 drum takes to weed thru, so there's that.
the first drum take has a different snare then the others.

do whatever you want, how ever you want.

it's in the style of the song i posted earlier, but not that actual song.

this link is everything that's not drums
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/t4g55xbs9g...rings.zip?dl=0

    this is drum takes 1-3
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/j739j3orzf...201-3.zip?dl=0

    this is kit 4-6
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/qfbbszb9w1...204-6.zip?dl=0

    tempo is 140
there's like 16 bars before anything comes in (the amount of time it takes me to run to the kit and sit down) but if you just drop everything in at zero it will line up with the tempo just fine.

i might do some automation moves later, but like i said before, i fucking hate doing it via mouse/trackpad. here are the static mixes I've lived with for a bit.

feel free to yell at me to change something that you can hear, and that i probably can't because of me blasting shit for longer than i should. probably a combination of that and paint fumes.

and giraffe, pretty sure i gave my gf a heart attack when she walked in on me with your song up. whatever tho, got her out of the house

None of those links are good.
And who could possibly be put off by this, beautiful soothing music?
I'm pretty proud of that end. Was it the end she heard? I kind of hope so.

I'm sure there's plenty of people that would agree that this is the better version by far.
