just one verse, one bridge, one chorus...
    that's all i got.

    ideas?

i can go either way with this one.
i can keep it acoustic, and give it a more pop treatment (i'm really intrigued by this proposition)

    or

i can rock it up and make it a batsbrew tune.

the one cool thing about this one is,
i used my brand new RME Babyface interface to do this whole thing....
at 96k, my first foray into higher sample rates.

this is a lightly mastered file. dithered to 16bit/44.1khz

    new song demo, 2nd draft

this is a slightly new version
titled "the way the worlds' goin down"...
    title subject to change.
    LOL

even tho this is just a demo,
    i re-mixed everything,
took out a bunch of the harmonies,
added a bass part, tambourine and bongos, just to get a feel for what a 'rhythm section' might do with it...

i may just have to do two versions of this thing,
    a slower acoustic version,
and a heavy even slower hard rock version..... kinda like a 'kashmir' groove

here's the link to the first version:

you know, i did something REAALLLLLY WEIRD with this tune...
i recorded the two main acoustic rhythm guitars, and the solo guitars, with my ksm44 pointed backwards in cardoid pattern, towards the room, and jacked up my input gain, and basically recorded the sound of the room, instead of the guitars!!
    LOL

    just experimenting......

Much more intelligent than subscribing to pointless internet "preset" thinking. When my listening system is up I look forward to listening to the song. Your album is giving me joy whenever a song pops up in random play. I always keep thinking: "that's great - WTF is it?".

hehe, i have a favorite preset that's on almost all plugins,
    it's called 'reset'.
    LOL

thanks for the kudos there, knastratt...

I recently bought a new DAW interface, a RME babyface pro,
and this little demo is PARTIALLY an experiment in learning the interface, and how good the quality of the capture is.

the demo you are hearing, is a lightly mastered file, that's been dithered down to 16bit/44.1khz...so.....
i experimented with bit rate 32bit and sampling at 96k.
    wow.

with the great improvement in convertors over what i had, i can really hear the diff, after using a Maudio Audiophile 192 pcie card for about 8 years.

once i dither everything down to 44.1khz/16 bit, will i still hear the diff?

well, yes, because the depth and quality of the capture still translates down.

    the big caveat here,
is that you have to have decent playback system, and decent convertors, to really hear the sound diff,
but if you DO have those things, it's obvious.

i mean, i've read that fact here, for many years,
    over and over,
    ad naseum...

so i knew it would be true, when i finally had a change to step up just a little bit more.
