    The one time I got to see Mose Allison play was in 1966 at the first (and last) New York City Folk Festival blues concert at Carnegie Hall, sharing the bill with Dave Van Ronk, Eric Von Schmidt, Libba Cotton, Son House, Muddy Waters with Jimmy Cotton and Otis Spann, and Chuck Berry backed by half of Muddy's band. I'd never heard Mose Allison before or anything like him and it was a revelation. Not what I'd expected, utterly amazing.

    He will never be replaced or equaled.
