perhaps one of the Pro Tools gurus could chime in and verfy your theory or DESTROY it

Thanks guyz, great conversation. Very helpful... probably also to many lurkerz.

And yes, CH is completely right.

Moving + editing files will be reproduced when others open your project or session file. But processed audio segments, regions, or files, that write new audio to your hard drive will NOT be reproduced when others open your project or session file.

Right, so it's best not to consolidate any edits then?

BA ~ no worries. It's easy to forget sometimes that
some people are not just new to recording, but also
computer use in general. In this day, that comes as
    a shock.
It's easy to forget sometimes that one may have been into recording since before digital audio was a viable format and not be new to computer use and still not have a lot of experience in the more nuanced forms of file transfer.

Sonar 6.0 allows you to export files in 3 different ways:
OMF (project), Audio as .wav, and track template.

I don't know of a way to separate the audio from the project file other than to individually "wipe" each track; even then, the included vs excluded info makes me wonder if it's worthwhile:

Note: OMF files save the following:
    Tracks
    Clip positions
    Slip edits
Fades and crossfades (as destructive edits)

    The following information is discarded:
    Volume
    Pan
    Automation
    Effects

nobz, doesn't Sonar have an audio files folder?

And separate from that it has a project file or document?

Take just that file (the project file or document) and zip THAT. Then post it.

Then anybody else with Sonar (who also downloaded the audio files) can download your Sonar project file + put them on their drive adjacent to the audio files + open it. Then they will see your Sonar project with their audio files.

The same applies to all the other apps. And please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hope this helps.

    My apologies.

A google searched turned this up:

FYI, files with the extension *.cwp are Cakewalk Project files wich contain all the changes you make inside of Sonar (i.e. volume levels, plugins used, pans, EQs, Buses, Tracks, etc). The ones ending on *.wav are obviously your Wave files. The ones ending one *.wov are just pictures of your Wave files saved in the Picture Cache Folder. Sonar caches this files in order to load a Project faster, but you don't need to backup those as Sonar will re-create them. Not having them will only make Sonar load a project slightly slower the first time you open it, but then the project will load as usual. As far as the files ending with *.wtr, I have no clue but you might not need those either. Hopefully someone else can shed light on what they are.

Now, if you're lucky, you've been saving your projects in Per-Project Audio Folders where you have a Project File (*.cwp) and a separate Audio folder containing ONLY the corresponding Wave files of this project. This will make backing up your data super easy. If not, then you actually have the Wave files of ALL your projects stored into one common Audio folder. This means you'll have to fish for the wave files of each project contained in this folder. I guess you could also save your projects as bundle files (*.cwb) which will actually convert your project file and wave files into a single file.
So hopefully you have a .cwp file in your project folder that you can zip and
    upload.

    Hello everyone!
Sorry for this late post but i discovered this forum only few days ago. It was real opportunity to live my engineering fantasy while
mixing senor song. I do not want to be privileged, just to hear what you think. So, is it ok to post mix?
