Lead Vocal download info posted :
http://thewombforums.com/showthread....650#post201650
It's ftp info to get on to my own ftp. Best I can do for now. I hope it helps everyone to download the Lead Vocal.

Re: MiX iT#4a: ReMiX the MMRS theme : Q&A
Hey Chris, any info/idea on when we should be done with this? (the actual mixing phase)
I'm gonna have to fuck with the lead a bit because I chopped the the hell out of the track (well, not that much but enough to fuck me up) before I realized there were files missing.

So, what's the agreement about this?
When should we post?

Re: MiX iT#4a: ReMiX the MMRS theme : Q&A
somewhere in the run of the next moon we'll start the post it cycle.
I think it is safe to say that this cycle timing wise is an example of unrestrained, free and open minded following of seasons without getting stressed out about silly things like wether it rains or the sun shines.
I say we keep it that way for this one ...

Re: MiX iT#4a: ReMiX the MMRS theme : Q&A
I can't start mixing, cause I'm too confused. That's because the post it-thread + the discuss it-thread are both labeled "MiXiT #4d". I can't get over that.
And, btw... Chris, shit happens...

As long as you start NOW ... as in this very second I'm typing this you should still have SH*TLOADS of time to complete this.

Both threads are part of the same phase :
A is the announcement / Q&A phase
B is the signup phase
C the download and Mixing phase
D is the post / discuss phase
Same as in the previous MiX iT events. Last time we even had 3 threads in the D phase. I suppose you went into a coma after seeing those back then and just woke up
BUT ... I have a solution for you ....
Remember those ink eraser pens that you could draw over a mistake on paper and it would leave this white layer you could write on ?
Well ... here's what you do :
Step 1. get one of those pens with a fairly thick point
Step 2. open the MiX iT forum on your screen and scroll the window so you can see both the D threads
Step 3. take the eraser pen and 'erase' one of the D's on your screen
Step 4. take a red marker and write your own letter of choice (may I suggest 'P' for Polo ?) on the erased layer.
Hope this helps
Chris

Well, just dump the files into some trial version of i.e. Samplitude or Reaper, and fire up some presets (remember to use compression). How hard can it be????
... and your mix will be "optimized for laptops/youtube". There is a huge audience out there waiting for you.
If you can't see it, they can't hear it anyway.

Err...I've just checked your statement and you're absolutely right...there were 3 threads in the D phase last time and I have no idea where the hack I was between that event and now. Obviously a black hole catched me back then and spit me out a few days ago...
Btw...that shit happens-thingy I've mentioned was related to the organisational disaster you wrote about - meant like 'no worries, sometimes real life doesn't allow to be in time in the virtual world'. Wasn't meant as a smartass post about the 'D' - thing.

Ok, did it. Seems to work fine as long as I don't change the forum...I've sent a bunch of markers to you today + some clear films. Now here's the deal - you've got to analyse the attached smiley really well regarding it's animation - painting one animation step on the 1st clear film, the next animation step on the 2nd and so on....be careful to use the right colors. When you're done, you stick the clear films together (just at the top), the first image you've painted being the last one in the pack. That whole thing is now ready to be sticked to the middle of your screen. Do it. Now, everytime you feel the urge to post something 'Polo-kinda', take one of your thumbs and do the flip-book thing on your new transparent screen reminder.
It should look similar to this:
Hope it works.
Marco

I have a Micro but i'd rather not mix on my iPod headphones. :P
All my gear is in "limbo" as i'm in the middle of moving cities/jobs.
(i *could try* mix on my 7509's but they're packed away with the
BM15a's and other gear i'm taking with me)
No big deal if i don't get to do it, but i'd like to. Was just curious
of when they're "closing the doors".

Re: MiX iT#4a: ReMiX the MMRS theme : Q&A
In case it didn't cut through due to the lack of smileys, my previous post in no way a serious suggestion.

Just do it! Due time issues I started mixing the same way, at home with headphones. I just balanced and panned the stuff I didn't trust my cans for eqing though. But I was really surprised how the mix already sounds when I worked further in the studio. I think sometimes it can work this way and in this example it did.

Re: MiX iT#4a: ReMiX the MMRS theme : Q&A
Chris,
how're we gonna deal with the comments on the mixes (Discussion-thread) this time ? Mac made a good suggestion at the last MiXiT (well, at least to me it sounds good...).
May I cite :
Quote:
|

- usually the first submissions get a lot of comments, that last ones less
My proposal:
- everyone who submits a mix must comment on the following 10 (or whatever number seems approriate) following submission.
- if your mix is one of the last submission (so maybe only 3 mixes are submitted after yours) you'll start over at the beginning
Examples: lest assume we have 81 mixes available
- mixerdude 1 comments on the mixes 2-11
- mixerdude 2 comments on the mixes 3-12
- mixerdude 3 comments on the mixes 4-13
...
...
- mixerdude 71 comments on the mixes 72-81
- mixerdude 72 comments on the mixes 73-81 and mix 1
- mixerdude 73 comments on the mixes 74-81 and 1-2
- mixerdude 74 comments on the mixes 75-81 and 1-3
...
...
- mixerdude 80 comments on mix 81 and mixes 1-9
- mixerdude 81 comment on the mixes 1-10
This way everyone has only a limited number of mixes to comment, and everyone gets the same number of comments.
The only downside I see is that it makes most sense to wait until the submission deadline before commenting starts, if not dude no. 1 waits a long time for the first comment about his mix.
Maybe (but that'll be a discussion on its own) everyone can name his favorite/most interesting/whatnot of the mixes he commented on, and those favorites are discussed be the whole gang.
Whaddaya think?

PS: I can't remove that fuckin' ink from the screen...
