Just got this in off Hamtech, crossposted from another list by another listmember. I am still in shock...he's the one who got me over here...we were just chatting a few nights ago. Jesus...

Throw on some good Hammond tunes and drink a few to his memory tonight.

Subject: [HAM] Peter Abrams has left the building.......forever



This is to let all those who knew him, that Peter Abrams, my brother, passed
away this week, at the age of 54, at his home in Jacksonville FLA,
apparently of natural causes. He lived alone, and had no immediate family
close by, and we have no way or ascertaining who he was communicating with,
though I know he was a contributor here. He was a huge Hammond Bee-Tree
afficionado and collector, and we just want to contact his circle of friends
to let them know of his passing.



I hope to use this as a temporary source of information about whatever
memorials and services may be scheduled. At present, the arrangements are
still pending.



I will be happy to communicate with anyone who cares to share their
thoughts with our family. He may have lived alone, but he will leave a huge
empty hole for those who knew him.



Thank you for being his friends and co-conspirators in the joys of the
Hammond. He worshipped at its altar daily.

I'm shocked.
Quite a few of us got to meet Peter a couple years ago.
He had recently lost his beloved wife, and was hanging on to life by the skin of his teeth. He fought hard not to show his disarray, but he looked like a lost soul.
I'd like to think the few days we spent together cheered him up.

Huge props to Aardy and Bubba for reaching out to him when he had it rough.

Then he played a blinder of a Hammond track on our Cape 5 team (Conception) and I think he was really proud of that. He deserved the praise. We spoke on Skype some months ago and he seemed in good spirits.

He was a good egg, our Padboy.

My last conversation with him was probably in chatwomb. He was posting up links to some recordings he had done a while back and I would just play them one a time while I did some other work. Very enjoyable stuff with lots of B3 of course.

Hope he has some nice Leslies spinning up wherever he may be.

This is terrible news!
I was just talking with him on the chat here a few days ago. Had no idea he was not long for this world. Did he know? He was such a reclusive guy though always friendly with me on the few occasions we met in real life.
We had both worked in the technical end of TV in Oklahoma in the 70s and 80s (he in Tulsa, I in Okie City) and we knew a number of people in common. I am so sad right now.

I met Padboy. Met him with Goes211 and Aardy. He was a good guy, and he reached out to many in this community. His friends were all over the world. But it's important to have human contact, and it doesn't sound like he was getting enough of that.

If I had to guess, I'd say he probably died of a broken heart. His wife's passing was devastating to him. Sad news.

I'm going to give him the kind of closing that he deserves. The kind of closing I would want, were I to go away.

I'm in shock.

I was working with Peter on CAPE IV when his wife passed away. He was hanging tough the whole time.

I was concerned about him and his place just before TS Fay was about to hit last week. He said he had his genny up and the wiring in place.

I can't believe he has gone.

I just found this on a Tulsa TV forum :

My Catharsis is simple, and already spoken for. There's a song on the James Taylor CD, "HourGlass" Track 2. "It's Enough To Be On Your Way" I played this for the long deceased. I played it when My Daddy died, I played when my dog died in my arms.
I'll play it again tonight. I'll use the guitar, I'll use the B-3. I'm not good at expressing things out loud. I 'm not a loud person. But I think If I play the music, they'll hear it.

I've been talking to a mutual friend of ours in Nashville, and I will post any memorial info/funeral arrangements as soon as I get them.

This is still sinking in. I never met him in person, only in countless Hamtech chats for many years, chatwomb sessions, skype calls and phone calls. But the loss is still there, he was an amazing friend and a brilliant guy.

I've got a gig with the horn band tomorrow evening. I'll rip a good solo off for him, and knock back a couple in his memory. I hope he hears it.
